Nick Liefhebber
I’m working and living in Utrecht, The Netherlands. I make layered, colourful, slightly psychedelic illustrations. Usually somewhere between abstract and figurative. You can visit my website at liefhebber.biz.
I studied graphic design and started my career doing mostly identities, websites and stuff like that. At a certain point I decided I wanted to do more illustrations and started making screenprints and risoprints for myself. Now I’m mostly an illustrator and make those in multiple ways like collages, drawings on my iPad, vector based stuff or good old drawing with a pencil. Making art prints is a big influence on my work since you are limited by the amount of colours you can use with those techniques. I try to get maximum effect by overprinting and thus blending those colours on the paper. A lot of my work seeks the balance between culture and nature, or sometimes nature overtaking culture. There have been so many societies and cultures that don’t exist anymore but left their marks. Those stories can be found everywhere around you if you look good enough.
